The City of Chicago hosted the victory parade and rally for the Chicago Blackhawks' win of the Stanley Cup on June 11, 2010. Mayor Daley spoke at the rally and introduced Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz.
ABC provided local coverage of the event with had a massive crowd cheering the hockey players wildly. According to ABC, the size of the crowd is difficult to estimate, but the parade and rally attracted about two million people.
The mood was festive as the Chicago sports fans cheered and waved at the red double decker buses in the parade and at the rally in downtown Chicago. As the Stanley Cup was carried through the crowd, fans reached out to touch the trophy.
The Stanley Cup trophy is historic, because the trophy goes to the winning team each year, meaning that the hands of many hockey champions have handled that very trophy.
