Lara Flynn Boyle, 43, is unrecognisable as she reveals her puffy cheeks and swollen lips during a make-up free shopping trip

Her role in Twin Peaks turned her into one of the most instantly recognisable actresses on the planet, but it was a radically different Lara Flynn Boyle who stepped out for groceries on Thursday.

Indeed, the 43-year-old actress was practically unrecognisable as she ventured out in Bel Air with puffy cheeks and lips, her dark eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses.

The drastic change to Lara’s face was accentuated by a very evident lack of make-up during a shopping trip at the LA suburb’s Beverley Glen Market with her mother, Sally.

The overall look was completed with a pair of green sandals, while a blue carry-bag was casually slung across one shoulder.

While her latest outing is a world away from her salad days as one of Hollywood’s hottest young stars, it isn’t the first time her appearance has prompted concern.

Her skeletal frame caused a stir at the Golden Globes in 2003 and did nothing to quash rumours of an eating disorder.

The actress poked fun at the reports in 2002's Men In Black II, in which she played an alien who disguises herself as a lingerie model.

After eating a male attacker and noticing a bulge in her tummy, she throws up.

Lara has also remained tight lipped about reports of numerous cosmetic enhancements, but experts claim the actress is no stranger to surgery.

In 2010 Dr Paul S Nassif, a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist in Beverly Hills, said: 'Lara Flynn Boyle appears to have had rhinoplasty, lip augmentation, Botox, facial fillers, and possibly a browlift and facelift.

'She should refrain from having any additional procedures and would not benefit from having further work performed at this time.'

The actress has previously opened up about her fear of ageing during an interview conducted when she was 32.

'I know I may be running out of time,’ she said at the time. ‘There are just not that many roles for older women.

'On a vanity level, I am not looking forward to ageing at all - I think I look pretty good now.'

Adrian Peterson Baby Mama: He's Fathered Seven Kids!

Adrian Peterson's baby count continues to rise - publicly at least - after another woman came forward to say she has a son with the NFL star.

Erica Syion, a former dancer who used to work at a gentlemen's club in Dallas, Tex., says she and the athlete have a four-year-old son together.

They met in Houston back in 2007, but their relationship has deteriorated in the past couple of years. The football star is involved in the child's life.

The two have a financial arrangement, in which Adrian Peterson gives Erica money to pay for the child's schooling, as well as living expenses.

In total, she says that Adrian has fathered (at least) seven children.

Earlier, it was reported that the 28-year-old NFL MVP had five kids by various women, but Syion tells TMZ that he has fathered at least seven now.

All this came to light after Adrian Peterson's son died last week in South Dakota, following an alleged beating by the boyfriend of the boy's mother.

Peterson had never met the boy until he was hospitalized from his injuries, though he did acknowledge paternity after the mother recently informed him.

The man who raised the deceased boy, and whose last name he carries, said he was sick of all the "poor AP" s--t following the tragedy last week.

Perhaps now we have a better idea what Bobby Ruffin meant by that.

As for how good of a dad he is? Erica says he dutifully pays his child support, but could definitely stand to spend more quality time with his children.

Gwyneth Paltrow denies claims of affair with American billionaire Jeff Soffer

When Gwyneth Paltrow found out that Vanity Fair was planning to run a feature about her, she wrote to her friends, saying: "If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline.”

The actress is reportedly annoyed that the magazine was looking into her friendship with Jeff Soffer, a Florida-based billionaire.

Paltrow, 41, who has two children with her husband, the Coldplay singer Chris Martin, is said to have become close to Soffer, 43, in 2008, when he reopened the the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami.

Her spokesman has said any suggestion of an affair is "one big lie” and that Soffer is nothing more than a long-term friend.

Soffer married Elle Macpherson, 49, the supermodel turned businesswoman, earlier this year.

Review: '12 Years A Slave' agonizingly magnificent

(EW.com ) -- Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave is an agonizingly magnificent movie: the first great big-screen dramatization of slavery. Based on actual events, it begins in 1841 and tells the story of a free black man from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., a musician named Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who walks around in a natty gray suit, secure in the courtly modesty of his life as a husband and father of two. But then he accepts an offer to go to Washington, D.C., with a pair of traveling entertainers, and when they're out at a restaurant drinking wine, we get the queasy feeling this is too good to be true. It is. Solomon isn't being hired for his talents. He's being trafficked.

He wakes up in a cold, stark prison cell, with a spiderweb of chains shackling his arms and legs. The traffickers have drugged him and are sending him down to Louisiana, where he'll be sold into slavery. Gazing at his chains as if he were in a bad dream he simply has to wake up from, the brilliant Chiwetel Ejiofor places us right inside Solomon's skin, and instantly we're sharing the horror this man's life has become. Ejiofor may have the most eloquent eyes of any actor now working. They are orbs of pure expression, and in this movie they need to be because Solomon can rarely speak what he's feeling. What we read in his intensely private thousand-yard stare is the agony of a man robbed of freedom, but also the renunciation of despair. Whatever happens, he will persevere and survive. He will know misery, but he will not fall into the trap of madness. He will transcend.

The scalding power of McQueen's artistry begins with this: He uses the fact that Solomon wasn't born into human bondage to draw us into the experience of slavery. Solomon has to learn to answer insults or bear whippings with silence, to pretend he's a toady who can't read or write, and the cruelty of that process becomes the film's way of dramatizing the unnaturalness of slavery. Is it just Solomon who's really a free man? No, every slave is.

12 Years a Slave is based on a book Northup wrote about his ordeal, and McQueen, working from a superb script by John Ridley, has structured the film as a diarylike series of incidents. There are no trumped-up arcs to pad out what we're watching. The crushing reality of Solomon's day-to-day existence is all the drama the film needs. Solomon's first slave owner (Benedict Cumberbatch) reveals a few humane instincts — as much as a slave owner's behavior can be called ''humane.'' But then, after showing too much pride, Solomon gets sold off to Edwin Epps (Michael Fassbender), a seething plantation owner who's a kind of diabolical psychologist of sadism. He can see the fire in Solomon's heart and is driven to break him. When he learns that Solomon has tried to get a white laborer to send a letter north, he holds Solomon's face close, saying he knows what's going on, and Solomon defuses the situation with an ingenious lie that he must sustain for minutes on end, without a tremor, staring his overseer right in his taunting eye. This is virtuoso filmmaking that lays bare the degraded relationships with a terrifying intimacy.

Edwin has a consuming obsession with Patsey (Lupita Nyong'o), the slave who picks more cotton each day than any other slave (500 pounds of it) and whom he regularly rapes. Their ''relationship'' becomes part of a debased triangle, since Edwin's wife (Sarah Paulson) is aware of his fixation. Due to her jealousy, and to Edwin's disgust at his own desires, Patsey is subjected to the torments of hell. Lupita Nyong'o's performance is shattering. She goes to a place of private terror and communion beyond pain. When Edwin is whipping Patsey, McQueen plays a startling trick: He holds on the image of Edwin brandishing the whip — a Hollywood cliché — and then, as we're lulled into that familiar ''it's only a movie'' mode, the camera, without a cut, spins around to show the obscene violence of the whipping. The mortification of flesh hits us in the solar plexus.

It's Ejiofor's extraordinary performance that holds 12 Years a Slave together. He gives Solomon a deep inner strength, yet he never softens the nightmare of his existence. His ultimate pain isn't the beatings or the humiliation. It's being ripped from his family, blockaded away from all he is. 12 Years a Slave lets us stare at the primal sin of America with open eyes, and at moments it's hard to watch, yet it's a film of such emotion that in telling the story of a life that gets taken away, it lets us touch what life is. Grade: A

'Carrie' Had The Power, But Mom Had The Scary Going On

Just in time for Halloween comes a new movie version of Stephen King's horror novel Carrie. While the teenaged Carrie White is clearly at the center of the story, I think her mother is the more fascinating character.

Carrie — about a shy misfit whose coming of age collides with her mother's fearful religious fundamentalism and her schoolmates' pack-animal cruelty, with combustible results — scared the bejesus out of me when I was a teenager. Carrie turned out to be dangerous, sure. But it was her mother, Margaret White, who made my heart stop.

"Eve was weak. Say it!" she screeches over and over, until Carrie — who's come home shattered after being surprised by her first period in the school shower — finally does say it. She drags the terrified girl into a closet that's been turned into a nightmarish chapel, complete with candles, Bibles and a bloody crucifix.

To understand Margaret White, you need only dissect the scene in which Carrie is getting ready to go to her high school prom against her mother's wishes. She's dressed in a low-cut gown, and her mother's reaction is one of utter disgust.

"I can see your dirty pillows. Everyone will."

For Margaret White, breasts are 'dirty pillows' on the bodily path to what she says is the "first sin": sex.

"Such a great line," says Kimberly Peirce, who directed this month's Carrie update. Peirce says Margaret White is terrified of everything

"Terrified of sex and terrified of sin, and yet she took great pleasure in having sex at some point," Peirce says. So Carrie — as the byproduct of that sin — is condemned to eternal punishment. "You pray, little girl. Pray for forgiveness."

Margaret White may have been the reason I never got confirmed.

A 'Lyrical Black Comedy,' At Least To The Lady In It

In the 1976 movie, actor Piper Laurie played Margaret White. When she first read the script for Carrie, she thought it was a send-up.

"I laughed so much during the whole making of this movie — I can't tell you — at how preposterous I was," says Laurie. With her black cape and ghostly white face framed by that flaming red hair, Piper Laurie's Margaret is operatic.

"Our movie," she says, referring to the 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma, "always seemed like a lyrical black comedy."

Stephen King has said that Carrie and Margaret White were inspired by people he encountered as a teenager in Durham, Maine. King wrote that he did some handyman work for a woman who lived alone with her daughter, who had epilepsy. A large crucifix hung on the wall in their living room. Another inspiration for Margaret White was an "intensely religious" woman King said he met at a laundromat. King writes that he always "wondered what her children were like."

In the novel, Stephen King describes Margaret White as wearing her hair "pulled back in a bun." But Julianne Moore — who plays her in the new movie — wears her hair long and loose, as Piper Laurie did in the original. Peirce says Moore believes the fictional Margaret White would never commit the sin of vanity.

"Julianne called me very early on and said 'I just want to let you know, I'm gonna go gray,'" says Peirce. "She thought that's what Margaret would do. She didn't want it to be over-sexual. She didn't want it to be showy for the world. ... Because Julianne didn't think she would spend any time on her hair."

'Everything She Says Is Right'

Even though Margaret is a wild, over-the-top invention, Kimberly Peirce still thinks there's a grain of truth in her.

"I think all parents and all children — they're not going to fight to the death with knives, but I do think that there is the child being unrecognizable to the parent at times," Peirce says. "[You understand] the parent desperately wanting to protect the child and love the child, and that struggle for the child to individuate and grow up. And I think that's what Carrie and Margaret struggle with."

The fictional Margaret White is undeniably cruel to her daughter. And yet Peirce says she's always struck by the fact that Margaret is ... more or less on target.

"Everything she says is right. She's like 'They're gonna laugh at you.' She's right. She's like 'You shouldn't go to prom. You have super powers.' She's right."

Spoiler alert: It doesn't end well.

"That outer shadow cone is so light that one normally barely notices the darkening moon as the eclipse progresses."

Method 1 of 4: Is Your Annuity Transferable or a Structured Settlement?

Determine if your annuity is transferable. If your annuity is not transferable, then you cannot sell it under any circumstances. (If you need to sell your annuity because you need immediate cash, the best you can do with a nontransferable annuity is list it as an asset or form of income and apply for a regular bank loan.)

Determine if your annuity is a structured settlement. Most states have laws that protect people who want to sell their structured annuity. If your state has a Structured Settlement Protection Act, [2] your transaction will have to be approved by a state court (this is to ensure that your best interests are protected.)

Method 2 of 4: Evaluating the Worth of Your Annuity

Evaluate your annuity. Before you shop around for annuity buyers, find out what the resell value of your annuity is. All annuities offer tax-deferral from the time of your initial investment, but your distributions are taxable, so take that into consideration when you are considering selling your annuity.
It’s best to seek advice from an expert. Annuities are complex legal documents; if you are fuzzy on the details of your investment and its relative worth, you probably won’t get a fair price for your annuity.

Method 3 of 4: Finding a Buyer

Search for an annuity buyer. You can ask your insurance agent for recommendations and you can search online for reputable companies. You can conduct an initial search at no cost:
Visit websites that offer to buy annuities. Use their quote form to get a quote from them. You will have to give your name, email address and the name of your annuity, but that’s all the personal information you will have to give in order to get a free quote—and remember the quote is just that; you may not actually receive that amount, or the quote may not disclose the fee that will be deducted from the settlement when the transaction is completed.

Try to obtain offers from at least five companies before you decide who to sell your annuity to. If you sell it yourself, you won’t incur any fees, but it is highly advisable to hire a broker to sell your annuity for you. You’ll have to pay a brokerage fee, but a professional can negotiate a good price and make the best deal for you.

Understand that the buyer stands to gain. A company that buys your annuity is doing so as an investment. They aren’t in business to do you a favor; they will look at the particulars of your annuity and decide if it is profitable for them to keep your initial investment in the annuity and accrue the interest for themselves. (A fact you should consider as well!)

Decide what type of funding you need or want. Investigate the various ways annuity buyouts are made:
Straight purchase. The buyer gives you one lump-sum payment for your annuity. You do not collect payments in the future.
Partial purchase. The buyer purchases your immediate annuity payments, for example for the next 5 years, and at the end of that time, you once again collect your annuity payments as scheduled. This is a good solution to a one-time cash flow problem—–you get the cash you need, but you still have retirement funding.
Reverse purchases. Sell some years of your annuity. Let’s say you are now receiving $1,000 per month for the next 15 years. Sell your payments from years 5 through 10 only. You will get a lump sum for those years, but still receive your current payments up through year 4, no monthly payments in years 5 through 10, but monthly payments resume in years 11 through 15.
Split purchases. Sell part of your monthly payment. If you only need $500 a month and your annuity payment is $1,000, sell the portion you don’t need; you will get a lump sum for that and still receive monthly payments of $500.

Method 4 of 4: Preparing the paperwork

Gather your paperwork. You will need to have the proper paperwork in order before you can sell your annuity; you must prove it is your annuity and provide copies of:
Original annuity application
Actual annuity policy
Settlement agreement (if applicable)
Your most recent disbursement check and tax return (if you are already collecting on your annuity)
Valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, etc.)
Declaration that you are selling your annuity of your own free will
Any other documentation the buyer requires, such as a copy of a court judgment (if it is a structured annuity), changes to the initial settlement or copies of any release agreements.
